“Is it true that you’re my tweetie pie?” “Yes, and you’re my tweetie pie, too.” Is the exchange of words that Ogden Reporter editor, Alban has listed among the reason behind the marriage that has lasted for 50 years and counting. Sharing the story of 50th Wedding Anniversary with his readers he said that there is no secret formula behind 50 happy years. It’s just that they both persisted in the face of hot and cold of seasons. They had never dated each other before marriage and as Sharon invited him to attend a prom, their relationship developed and they got married.
For their honeymoon they went to Kentucky and as they returned a severe ice storm was raging. During those wintery nights they imagined how they would look like when they would reach the age of 50 and drew cartoons of those mental images.
As the family grew Sharon had to take care of their two children David and Diane. After the birth of children Sharon had to take care of them and started spending much of her time at home.
Sharon views her husband as a very practical person. Alban always gave her the gifts that had been practically useful like iron, electric can opener etc. Once Sharon complained that he had always gifted her items of house hold use, since that day Alban started presenting her special gifts.
Alban is of the view that it would take a whole book to capture the memories of the years the couple spent together.
Alban and his wife are now grandfather and grandmother and more than that a model to follow, when it comes to sustaining relationships.
