Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has given the surprise again. He was in the famous talk show hosted by Jay Leno and told him that he is going to make a significant statement. He told that he is nominating Abel Maldonado, R-Santa Maria as the lieutenant governor of California.
Three weeks ago when Leno enquired him about the office vacated by John Garamendi who has been elected as the congressman, governor told that he will give the surprise on the show next time. When media pursued the representative of the governor this Monday about the new lieutenant governor, he told that the governor has not shared the name with them.
Schwarzenegger has the habit of surprising people. In 2003, He surprised people on this very show of Leno when he announced that he is going to contest for governorship when the governor of that time announced elections. When he had announced the name of Abel Maldonado on the sow, he described why he nominated him for the office of lieutenant governor. He told that he is very honest, loyal and hardworking with a lot of hand on experience of public service. He is bipartisan and can cross the flour anytime but what impressed him is his “people’s interest” as his priority over “party’s interest” because he make the decisions based upon the consideration what is best for the people.
Maldonado is 42 years old and his family belonged to Mexico. This year he used his decisive vote to pass bills on many important issues including water overhaul package and tax increases. The governor and Maldonado will make a joint press conference soon.
