Athletic program of the University of Alabama has been placed on probation of three years by the NCAA and they have been asked to vacate their wins between 2005 to 2007 just because of they had distributed a textbook which was a violation of NCAA rules.
It was stated in the report issued by the NCAA on Thursday and two breaches of policies were explained in it against University of Alabama; one is to allow some benefits to the student athletes who are not permissible and school did not make any mechanism to monitor athletes.
According to the report there are 201 students of different 16 teams that have been given benefits which are not permissible through misuse of program for textbook distribution of the Institution. Further said in the report that the estimated value of the benefits were around $40,000 and more than 50 percent part of this value was build up the 22 international criminals called wrongdoers.
This is the only reason that school has been placed on probation of three years and the time will be started from June 2000 to June 2012 and also most unforgiving penalties have been applied to those individuals which have been identified as international criminal (wrongdoers).
The common violation of the policy of textbook was exposed on 17 October 2007 when an employee of bookstore in the university found charges of a woman athlete of around $1,600 by tracking that woman. Then the University of Alabama started an investigation on internal level.
