Alexa Ray Joel, the daughter of pop star Billy Joel and supermodel Christie Brinkley, attempted suicide.
According to the details, 23-years-old Alexa Ray joel had attempted suicide. She was found in her Manhattan apartment by her friend on Saturday. Her friends called 911 and told them Alexa had taken sleeping pills. Police arrived at the scene and Joel was taken to hospital. It was reported that she has taken 8 sleeping pills. The law enforcement agency tells that Alexa told them that she was having poor breathing after taking some unidentified pills. She was rushed to the Vincent’s Medical Center on Saturday noon. Her mother, Christie Brinkley, showed up at the hospital around 4:20 p.m. Alexa was released from the hospital after a few hours. His father, Billy Joel, says that she will be in a stable condition soon.
Alexa Ray Joel is the only child of Billy Joel and Christie Brinkley. The two got divorced in 1994. It has been reported that Alexa Ray had been in constant state of depression for past few years. Alexa has been described as emotionally wrecked child and it has been said that she took it really hard when her father married a woman of almost his daughter’s age. Her friend says that the incident might be a ‘cry for help’ from Alexa.
Alexa Ray Joel was dropped out of NYU. She started a singing career and is said to be in a relationship with her band member Jimmy Riot. The two broke up a couple of years ago.
