A woman Alexis Hutchinson, serving in military, has refused to be moved to Afghanistan. Alexis Hutchinson said that there is nobody back at home to take care of her child. She is facing criminal charges for not being able to fulfill her duties.
Spc. Alexis Hutchinson telling the motives of her decision explained that she does have a mother at home but since she is already taking care of three persons, it would be impossible for her to look after her son.
Alexis was told by the military officials that she would have to serve in Afghanistan, whatever were her problems.
Her lawyer told that Alexis is really afraid that her son would have to live with foster parents and that would havelasting scars on his mind.
As it was discovered that Alexis Hutchinson has not taken the flight, that was meant to fly her to Afghanistan, she was put under military arrest and military investigator was appointed to look into the case.
As per the military rules and regulations a single parent who has nobody to care for his/her child could not be moved to serve elsewhere.
Military officials are of the view that if Alexis knew that there is nobody to take care of her child, why she took commission in military in the first place.
On the other hand Alexis says that her mother agreed to take care of her boy but apparently she realized that its too much for her so she refused to take care of the child for full one year.
The event has happened in the wake of another event in which a mother of a British soldier who died in Afghanistan has heavily criticized the governments for the poor conditions in Afghanistan.
