Two film journalists were murdered by robbers, Filipino-Canadian critic Alexis Tioseco and his partner Nika Bohinc a Slovenian critic and freelance writer, were shot dead last night at 10.pm, by three suspects, who broke into their Barangay Village, West Triangle, home at Quezon City, Manila.
Alexis Tioseco was a reputable writer; lecturer and critic who had helped the Philippines for the independence of filmmakers to home and abroad audiences. His articles as a film critic has appeared in several different news papers such as Philippine Daily Inquirer and Inter-Asia Cultural Studies Journal, whereas, on numerous website SensesofCinema.com, catalogues for the, Pesaro, Torino, and Cinemanila International Film Festivals.
Tioseco was also running a web-site named Criticine.com that features in-depth criticism of South-East Asian cinema, and served as a member of The International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI) for many film festivals.
Whereas, Nika Bohinc was Alexis Tioseco live-in partner and also a highly-respected film critic and programmer for festivals including the Isola Cinema Film Festival and Ljubljana International Film Festival, She also worked as the president of FIPRESCI Slovenia.
Reymoundo Equibal, the police Superintendent, Quezon City, Manila said that both victims were shot several times and took an undetermined amount of cash and valuables, he said the door was opened by a maid Criselda told the police that the gunmen tied and covered her mouth with a cloth.
All three killers escaped in couples care with their valuables, including Jewelry, cash and a laptop.
