A 5.1 surround sound speaker Altec Lansing VS3251 is a reasonable audio system with one subwoofer, two front a center and two rear speakers, and by saying a reasonable system I meant that its audio performance is better than many different audio systems available out there in the market but it has several different issues that limit its probability and prevent it being a fantastic device.
Altec Lansing VS3251 is a compatible audio system and by no means its compatibility be faulted because this audio system can be used with PC to MP3 player and from Home Entertainment to an iPOD but unfortunately its interface, setup and poor bass performance hold this audio system back. However, without a visible partiality towards treble or bass its well balanced sound quality is admirable.
Another thing which I would like to discuses about Altec Lansing VS3251 is that it is only compatible with a 5.1 sound card and while connected with some DVD player or a gaming console it provides only 2.0 channel stereo sound. The design: Altec Lansing VS3251 design is slick and nice for my taste as black finish in wooden case looks gorgeous.
In Altec Lansing VS3251 subwoofer has all the jacks in rear to connect all your speakers, while headphone and auxiliary jacks are in front. An LED is also attached in the subwoofer which shows the power light with volume knob. A small infrared sensor attached to the subwoofer through cable is also included to that you can use the remote controller even if the subwoofer is placed in an inconvenient corner.
Remote controller bares most of the controls, so make sure not to lose it because there are no switches or knobs to change inputs and detailed volume levels on the subwoofer.
