1960 brought boom for AMC when its “Mad Men” lofted it from a low-profile cable channel to the one that relays original series. The reason of its fame was the Emmy award given to “Mad Man” which added a feather in the cap of AMC. Previously, AMC was known as a channel which shows classic movies. Now it is quite easy to reckon why AMC launched “The Prisoner” which earned a lot of popularity in 1967. But its fans are still confused why AMC ventured into it but the actual reason of the “transformation” is the same as mentioned above.
The up-coming show that comprises six parts will amaze the fans again when they will see the remaking of “The Prisoner” that will go on-air on every Sunday. Patrick Mcgoohan was the producer of “The Prisoner” and an actor in the series died last January but the executive producer, Trevor Hopkins, of the new version of “The Prisoner” has taken media in to confidence that the cast he has chosen for the remake was recommended by the deceased. The cast includes Jim Caviezel and Ian Mckellen as “number six” and “number two” respectively. But the sad aspect of the remake is that the creator is no more in this world to suggest his opinion about it. Despite “bouncing balls” are still there like in its old version but the remake is not the same as it has been expected because it has totally different style and plot.
The present version is different than the older one in a sense that it was a spy drama which had villains curbing his will and had nothing to do with the SIX’s secrets. The remake portrays a post 9/11 era despite the fact the world trade centre towers have been shown in the series occasionally.
