The TRS chairman K Chandrasekhar Rao was on hunger strike for separate state of Telangana. After feeling the heat of agitation, the central government of India has announced that the process instating new state will commence soon. As soon as the consensus in Andhra Pradesh assembly develops, Telengana will be given the status of a separate state. Although there has not been any time frame for the implementation of the motion but it is expected that the process will take a start on Thursday.
Andhra Pradesh was already a severed part of Madras when Potti Sreeramulu went to hunger strike till death in 1953. Now another hunger strike that has become a life threat for KCR is going to another separation and emergence of a new state. The existing government has tried its best to crush the separatist movement but their effort were nothing but a futile exercise. Now home minister P Chidambaram made an announcement at the prime minister house that the government has requested to Andhra Pradesh CM to release all arrested separatist leaders and other members of the Telangana movement. He made a request to KCR to put an end to his hunger strike. But he did not mention the future of Hyderabad. Rao’s son has told that Telangana has no future without Hyderabad. He told that his father will call off his hunger strike soon.
The congress leaders came under enormous stress when KCR’s health exasperated leading to more powerful agitation in favor of the movement. The congress leaders were of the view that Maoists and some other elements are behind the movement.
