Not very long ago, reading about the habits of ultra rich, I came to know about their interest in collectibles. Andrew Kissel shared this feature with other super rich people. He was the owner of $ 3.0 Million yacht; he also had an antique Mercedes in his collection of cars to name a few of his collectibles.
Yet he was about to evacuate his estate as he was not able to clear the dues. As a matter of fact his dead body was discovered by the people of the company who had come to move his possessions.
Andrew Kissel and his family’s story is an extraordinary one. Andrew was the treasurer of a co-op board with full authority over the funds. He was found involved in the large scale fraud of funds to build an empire of his own. He was charged but came to an agreement with the bank in which he paid $4.7 million on the condition that authorities would not go public about his crimes.
On April 3,2006 when he was murdered the date had been fixed for him to appear before a judge in relation to another fraud. In the beginning prosecutors charged his driver Carlos Trujillo for conspiring to kill Kissel but later on as the further evidence accumulated the chauffeur was charged for committing the murder of Andrew Kissel.
As the fate would have it, his brother Robert Kissel was also murdered in a high profile case which gained publicity as “Milkshake Murder”. He was given a heavy dose of barbiturates in strawberry milkshake and then was hit on his skull with a heavy object.
