Anna Deavere Smith- American plays writer, actress and professor is doing her own show with an exceptional and very different concept. It can be regarded as health- show, focusing on health related issues. The show, gives you an apparent and clear consideration or understanding of generally social attitudes towards health and diseases and even towards death.
Anna got the inspiration for this unusual and surprising show from Lance Armstrong’s fight against his testicular cancer and his recovery from the disease after her daring struggle. While he recovered and successfully started his life voyage again, he found himself entirely a changed man with some totally different notion as he says “ultra competitiveness came from the disease”.
Anna got inspiration from the story of Armstrong and started the show that consisted of interviews of hundreds of famous people including Mr. Armstrong, and some lesser known ones , like her aunt, about their diseases, struggles and their cure. The subject of the show is health care, medical facilities and end-of-life issues in America. The topic is very sensitive and the show unlike many other pleasant and enjoyable shows on television doesn’t always depict a pleasing picture.
This wonderful show \”Let Me Down Easy,\” goes on air live is grounded on more than three hundred interviews with people who have faced illnesses including doctors and patients, famous personalities, celebrities and common persons, Americans and people worldwide. She talked about their battles with pain, illness, death and the healthcare arrangements. No doubt, she is doing very well in the show; spreading awareness among public for their health issues.
