“History repeats itself” and “old demons die hard” both the statements are true for the story of Anne Scripps Douglas. She was from a privileged family. Her father was the owner of legendary Scripps Howard newspaper group that included popular dailies like Detroit News and Cincinnati Post. She was raised in accordance with the strict Catholic beliefs. Studied in all females schools and growing up had nurtured only one dream, to have an ideal married life. Her friends tried to make it home to her that the life she was dreaming only exists in fiction. There was no reality to match her fantasies but she kept on to build fortresses of sand. She was a beautiful attractive lady of 23 when she was married to Anthony Morell. Anne Scripps Douglas went on to have two daughters from Morell. The daughters had given the meaning to Anne’s life. They were the centre point of her life. She was an ideal mother according to all who observed her. However Morell was a party man and loved mingling with elites. Once the daughters were in their teens, the couple’s difference became all too clear and they separated.
Loneliness was the single most dreaded thing for Anne Scripps Douglas. She couldn’t at all cope with the loneliness. She remarried to a man named Scott Douglas against the advice of all her friends. Scott Douglas proved to be an abusive partner and one day killed Anne Scripps Douglas. As Annie Morell came home, her mother’s corpse was in front of her. Scott had murdered Anne.
Scott Douglas committed suicide by jumping from a bridge.
The time’s wheel was spinning and its next target was Annie Morell. Years later Annie Morell committed suicide by jumping from the same bridge her step father had jumped from.
