City controller Annise is a little bit ahead of Gene Locke in the contest of mayor ship of Houston. Annise got 29 % and Locke received 26% of total precincts. The wealthy guy, Peter Brown could secure only 22% but he joined the race lately. The poor guy of republicans, Roy Morales, had 20 % of the total votes. Considering Roy’s lesser funds, he received good number. The turnout was far less than expected and it was around 12%. Brown who already has served the office two times spent $2 million on his election campaign. An interesting thing about Parker is that she would be first gay mayor if she wins. On the hand, if Locke wins, he would be second black mayor of Houston. Brown had the advantage of more funds which he spent on advertisements even earlier than his contestants and this money-factor helped him earn more fame and popularity. He spent huge amounts of money on mailings to each and every voter of the 2.5 million population of Houston. Brown orchestrated his ambitions on popular issues. His campaign comprised the agenda to improve mechanism to produce more job opportunities, providing security to neighborhoods, efficient use of funds and other human resources and to devise a viable plan to counter the burning issue of traffic congestion. But his tone was of a traditional politician who usually utters such “verbosity”. On the other hand Annise Parker highlighted her long experience in the funds management in different offices e.g. she worked as city controller. She stressed that her expertise in the funds management of the city will rapidly enable her to start the action. Locke flaunted his experience as the city attorney under the ex-mayor Bob Lanier. Let’s see who grabs the key.
