Seems like there’s no end to Tiger Woods’ saga as his doctor Anthony Galea is being investigated for doping.
Here’s the latest episode of Tiger Woods’ saga. I am already hearing some ‘give-us-a-break’ screams but hey, take a breath. At least it does not involve another ‘mistress’ of the golfer. This time it is about his doctor, Anthony Galea, who is being investigated by federal investigators for use illegal drugs on his patients. Anthony Galea, who is a Canadian doctor, who was arrested by Toronto police in October 2009 and his clinic, was attacked by investigators when his assistant was detained at the U.S.-Canada border for carrying illegal drugs. It is reported that Anthony Galea was found possessing Actovegin and other illegal drugs. Actovegin is a human growth hormone (hGH) which is extracted from calf’s blood. Actovegin was banned by World Anti-Doping Agency. Anthony Galea is under investigation on both sides of the Canadian border. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police says that charges will be filed against Anthony Galea this Friday and he is scheduled to make his first appearing in the court on December 18. U.S. anti doping agency officials has also confirmed that he is on their ‘radar’.
Anthony Galea and Mark Lindsey have been running a health center in Toronto. Anthony Galea has treated many athletes including Tiger Woods. His other patients include NFL’s Bill Romanowski and former Yankee pitcher Chien-Ming Wang.
Anthony Galea treated Tiger Woods when his team called him earlier this year. The Tiger Woods’ team was worried about his slow recovery from his knee injury. It is reported that Anthony Galea used one of his many controversial techniques called blood spinning on Woods. The blood spinning technique accelerates the recovery. Anthony Galea is said to have visited Orlando, Florida several times to visit Woods.
The suspicious part of the story is that FBI is investigating Anthony Galea and the probe is based upon the data found in Galea’s personal computer. An American newspaper has reported that the data is related to his athlete clients. The names of the athletes have not been released yet. Galea’s attorney said in a statement that Galea’s clients are innocent.
We hope the following days prove to be a little peaceful for Woods.
