Asolo is a beautiful hill town located in the Northern side of Italy. It is a perfect city to visit for those who have love for ancient art and especially Renaissance Art.
Located in a hilly area, Asolo is a heaven for travelers who want to visit something beautiful and serene. Asolo, with a population of 1,500, is smaller than most of the Italian towns; however, it offers all the amenities a tourist could crave for. Sidewalk cafes, great bars, ancient church with superb art work and paintings hanging all over the walls, arcaded streets with shops lined up on the both sides, and a central piazza. Asolo offers you bits of both the country side as well as the hues of Italian city life.
Wooden, tree-covered slopes lead to the lovely streets of Asolo where you are welcomed by the town’s serenity as you leave the factories, gas stations, and big roads behind. Asolo was known as the ‘city of a thousand horizons’ as it is located on the top of a hill. Its beauty drew poets, artists, and travelers alike. Even the Venetian Empire couldn’t resist staying in this town and it became the palace for the Queen of Cyprus. The Renaissance Palace of Palladio is still a great attraction for the tourists who want to spend a night in the romantic Asolo palace under the pomegranate grove.
The restaurants at Asolo offer Italian and few local delicacies which are truly delightful. Salads garnished with local cheese Cavallio, the sharp wine Amarone, and Baccalla (salted cod) are just few of these delectables.
