In Atlanta near downtown a part of the parking deck which was a six floor building collapsed on Monday and it crushed minimum 35 cars. One official from fire department says, it is really a miracle that no injuries were reported in this collapse although during lunch time which is a very busy time a load of concrete suddenly fell down.
With the support of timer, crew members were trying hard to stabilize the building and a car by car search was made by fire fighter in the evening. The deck was leveled down to first floor although it was collapsed on fourth floor. Near around 12:30 pm more than fifty fire fighters ran quickly to the parking deck and at that time there was a huge mess of concrete and cars at the down level, reported by Kelvin Cochran who is a Fire Chief.
Cochran further said to media during a news conference, we have a strong hope in our hearts that there would be no person inside this mess. The Atlanta Parking Deck was a seven years old building and immediately the cause of collapse could not be known. Hardin Construction was one of those three companies that were working the Botanical Garden of Atlanta when in December a pedestrian bridge was collapsed in which one worker was killed and 18 were injured. Hardin Construction are also the general contractor for the Atlanta Parking Deck.
J.P Spillane who is an official of Atlanta Police said, delay in search of parking deck search was because engineers pointed out that on the other side of the deck the bolts were bursting. But then welders were entered to support the area.
