Auld Lang Syne, will cover the atmosphere as soon as the clock ticks to 12. The traditional Auld Lang Syne was written by Robert Bruns, the Scottish poet, in 1788. Auld Lang Syne is parallel to “For old times sake” and “to the good old days”. It will be interesting to know that many of us do consider Scottish, Welsh or Irish as the English people but in originality they are not English and when the British empire was reduced to United Kingdom, many efforts were made to bring these Scottish welsh and Irish into main stream but they hardly forget their own culture and tradition. Auld Lang Syne is the proof that all these ethnic entities kept themselves different with their individual cultures.
Auld Lang Syne is considered as resolution for New Years. As people kiss their loved ones as the clock turns to midnight, they used to sing this lyric as New Year Resolution.
The year that left us will be remembered as a treasure in our memories no matter good or bad. The clock will tick and we will enter into new era of time. The time that never stops and ticking of the clock reminds us that life goes on as goes the time.
Auld Lang Syne is sung in a course and it has got the ritual status to sing;
Should auld acquaintance be forgot!
And never brought to mind!
Should auld acquaintance be forgot!
And auld lang syne!
