Flood water in the Grand River is rising continuously and because of this finale of B-93 Birthday Bash has been cancelled on Sunday. The Grand River turn around the Ionia Fairgrounds and that is the place where this annual event was planned by WBCT FM on Saturday which was expected to an end on Sunday around 2 pm.
Tim Feagn who is a general manager and president of the channel said to the media that officials of our channel consulted the National Weather Service about the flood situation and finally decided to cancel second day of the 17th annual party which was free party to attend for their listeners. He further said we have a plan to play the show safely but no one had any idea that river could rise up to 18 feet at Sunday.
Flooding caused by a thunderstorm on Friday night and it forced Birthday Bash festival to wrap up their activities early before time on Saturday. The actual time to wrap up the event was at 10 pm. Many vehicles which were parked in the lot north of the fairgrounds were flooded up to the winds. This flooding damage was also occurred in the lot south of the fairgrounds.
Help of wrecking services called to pull the vehicles which were stuck from the flood in lots and this activity continued throughout the day. Fans were also stuck up for hours and try to get out of the place at earliest. The flooding in fairgrounds started at the level of 13 feet but it rose to 18 feet on Saturday around 8 pm.
