A star studded 1988 film Beetlejuice cast includes Alec Baldwin, Alec Baldwin, Catherine O’Hara and Winona Ryder. The comedy / fantasy, revolves around a family named Maitlands. Adam and Barabara Maitland are returning to their new home when their car slips and plunges into the river. On their return to their home they find that they cannot go out of their home as the way outside has been transformed into a sandy passage infested with worms. More disturbing news is to come, as they watch mirror – there is nothing in the mirror giving them a hint that they have, in fact, died in the accident. Handbook for the Recently Deceased confirms their nightmare.
While Maitland start to accept the reality of death and afterlife, their house is being inhabited by another family called Deetzes. The new family has artistic bend and transform the house into a piece of modern art. Maitaland’s guide up there Juno breaks the news that they must remain in the house for 125 years before leaving and if they are distressed by the behavior of new inhabitants they can always resort to the ghostly ways to scare them off. As Maitland’ use everything in their power, Deetzes remain undeterred. So an evil soul is resorted to named Beetlejuice. The twist in the tale is that Deetzes have a daughter named Lydia who can see ghosts and becomes friends with Mailands. Beetlejuice nearly destroys Deetzes but he gets involved with Lydia – marrying her would result in Beetlejuice getting his earthly life back again.
The film ends with two families having mended their differences while evil Beetlejuice is condemned to have his head shrunk by a ghost doctor.
