Benny Silman’s real name is “Benjamin Silman”. He is from New York and studies in Arizona State University.
The 27 year old Benny Silman University student turns out to be Universities Bookmaker. It took Benny a minute to become a Bookmaker of Arizona State’s basketball from a student. Benny was sentenced 46 months in jail for supporting and gambling on the outcome of basketball games during the season of 1994.
Benny was studying in the Arizona state University when he was accused of gambling and booking teams during their matches.
Justification over the harsh punishment given by the U.S. District Court Judge Robert Broomfield he said the scandal could discourage poor children from trying to succeed in sports and improve their lives. He also said “The gambling here went beyond just yourself. It affects a lot of us”.
Benny entered an appeal agreement with prosecutors in April, admitting five counts of sports bribery. Benny also said that “I’ve realized I was addicted to a lifestyle taken over by drug use, alcohol abuse and gambling”.
Benny also admitted that “Hedake, Smith, and Burton” miss shots in the season of 1994 so that he and his partners in gambling could beat the projected points spread in four games.
In the following December Smith and Burton pleaded guilty too for their role in this horrific scheme.
Joseph Gagliano, age 29 investment adviser in Phoenix, Arizona was also pleaded guilty in this horrific act.
Benny was released in 2002. Benny has conducted a seminar in the collaboration with National Collegiate Athletic Association to warn athletes about the dangers of gambling.
He has also written many articles for many publications.
