Acting Attorney of New York’s Southern District Mr. Lev Dassin told the media that Bernard Kerik former Commissioner of New York City Police has been summoned by the grand jury of federal court. He has been accused by the grand jury for lying with the officials of White House at the time of vetting process when President George W. Bush nominated him as a homeland security secretary.
Bernard Kerik was accused by the jury that when he was working as a Correction Department’s Commissioner, he talked to the authorities of New York City on behalf of those contractors who had applied to get business permits within and outside the city. He has another allegation that his riverside apartment was also renovated by those contractors and they spent around USD $255,000 to renovate this apartment.
According to federal government, Bernard Kerik gave the misleading fake answer to those questions that were asked by the officials of White House about contractors at the time of appointment for homeland security secretary.
Barry Berke is the lawyer of Bernard Kerik. He said to the media that my client will be found blameless soon as he has been charged on fake allegations that could not be proved. However Kerik has withdrawn his name for the homeland security secretary and Tom Ridge has been appointed in place of him.
