The Starbucks lesson is well learned among the retailers, keep the operations lean and focused. Berres Brothers Coffee Roasters, Inc. is one such budding company. Aspiring to become global Berres Brothers Coffee started with very humble beginnings in 1970 starting as Coffee Host. Mervin Berres started the business just to serve the local population in Watertown, Wisconsin. The brand Berres Bothers Coffee was officially launched in 1992 by Peter and Jeff Berres having started roasting their own coffee. The steps were taken to supply the coffee at retail stores and groceries locally.
2002 saw the complete overhaul of the brand by the co-owner Peter Berres. Having gained considerable experience the company inaugurated an all in one facility at its current location in Watertown. The facility incorporated a retail store, a restaurant and a coffee roaster. The idea behind the facility was not only to serve the coffee, but also to impart a long lasting experience the mind of visitors for a long time. The company sells around 100 types of coffee in 50 different aromas.
2008 marked another achievement for Berres Brothers Coffee. The company won the fourth place among 59 competitors at annual Roaster’s Choice competition.
The company’s philosophy is to give a perfect cup of coffee, just enough to make the whole outlook refreshing and energizing.
As humble as the beginnings may be, the company has 45 employees and is actively pursuing its aim to go global.
