The best job in the world, a marketing campaign started by Tourism Queensland to promote Great Barrier Reef gave Ben Southhall to live his dreams on the island with all those facilities that one could imagine.
The best job in the world that was started for Ben Southhall on May 6, 2009 as in house sitting caretaker of the islands was going to finish this week.
Ben Southhall who defeated 34000 contestants to secure this position of the best job in the world was defeated by a tiny creature a lethal jellyfish that stung him. The man who was escaped from a hair breadth being punched by kangaroos, nibbled by sharks and bitten by snakes fell victim to Irukandji jellyfish.
The best job in the world man described the incident as a little sting but later he developed all those symptoms that could end in the death of victim like fever, lower back pain, high blood pressure, chesting heaviness and of course first of all the headaches. The doctors diagnosed that it was a lethal sting by Irukandji.
The best job in the world man adds in his blog that he tried his best to avoid all those dangerous animal kingdom that considers the Great Barrier Reef as their homeland but fell victim to this culprit that is invisible to naked eyes and could be as deadly as any colossal venomous snake. The year 2002 witnessed two tourists meeting their deaths after they were stung by the jellyfish.
The best job in the world could end like this. Ben Southhall enjoyed his life at the reef for six months as caretaker of the islands and felt the pain in his last week of the job.
Lesson: Even the best job in the world is not without pain.
