The legendary singer and guitarist for the band Big Star passed away yesterday on the seventeenth day of March. Alex Chilton was his name and he had created a lot of musical sensations in his lifetime before he died of a cardiac arrest just before he was expected to play at the South by Southwest gig which takes place in Austin in the state of Texas two days from now on the twentieth of March.
The news has come as a great shocker to his producers and family who consist of his son, his wife and his sister. Alex had been playing with Big Star after his previous band split up in the annum 1970. The reason that his previous band, which went by the name of “The Box Tops”, split up is that in the year of 1967 they had come out with a single that was so popular amongst the masses that everything they recorded afterwards didn’t come up to the crowds expectations which led the band to break up three years down the line. The song behind all this drama was called “The Letter” and Alex was only sixteen years of age when he had come out with that.
A year after the Box Tops broke up Alex made another band in Memphis which they called Big Star and for three years straight the band came out with an album every year which got them a lot of attention and praise that they would need to make it higher up in the music industry.
