As the Obama Administrations looming health care reforms are coming to the spotlight, a satirical group of self proclaimed Ultra Rich CEOs, profiting lavishly from the prevailing health care system, have struck the headlines with their anti- reforms slogans.
The health care system costs U.S an overwhelming US$2.5 Trillion. The figure becomes more important as the U.S economy becomes hard hit by the global economic downturn. Obama Administration is committed to overhaul the system and include the 46 million U.S citizens in the net, who are without health insurance. Another important feature of the reforms is that insurance companies would not be able to stop someone already sick with some disease from getting insured.
Keeping the status quo would mostly benefit the health care insurers and others manipulating the system to their benefit.
Billionaires for Wealth Care have mocked this class with slogans like “Bring Back Bush!” and “Fight Socialism! Abolish Medicare Now!”
Newest in the line of the mockeries staged by the group is their procession outside the “Health Insurance Fair”. The group freely distributed apples as it would help keeping the doctors away. Mixed reaction was seen among students and officials of health insurance companies.
Some students were confused and yet others were amused by their slogans. Whatever the reaction was, the procession offered an excellent opportunity for the students to think about the reforms and get them acquainted with the gimmicks played by the health insurance companies.
As Billionaires for Healthcare were asked about their take on the fair they responded that they have staged the procession as they favor young students to be hired by health insurance companies.
