As a major blizzard struck United States of America the past Friday night, numerous residents suffered a power failure due to breakage of cables and officials advised citizens not to come out of their homes as the blizzard 2010 strengthened up.
Predictors stated on Friday evening record snowfall of about ninety centimeters was measured. With the predictions of the storm residents started moving towards grocery stores to get enough supplies of food, so that they may not starve to death in the storm.
A store manager in Columbia stated that people came to the store even before its opening time to get piles of food. People were struggling to get milk, medicine, eggs, bread and meat etc.
Most of the educational institutes closed too soon. Many recreational events were cancelled due to the storm warning.
Blizzard circumstances were anticipated to start on Friday eve and may hold up till Saturday evening. The blizzard 2010 has got dangerous as the highways are blocked due to tree branches falling onto the roads.
The residents were advised by officials to stock back up supplies as the blizzard 2010 could last longer than expected. The postal delivery was also stopped in many parts of the country. Heaviest snow fall has been recorded in various states, with freezing temperatures and wind. Residents were also advised to stay warm and avoid any such act which may cause illness because medical aid could not be provided in such severe conditions. Everyone was advised to keep some common medicine accessible.
