The Bloom Box is a highly advanced box that has been produced by Bloom Energy, a company in Silicon Valley which has been working on this project for a while now. A number of Bloom Boxes have already been sold to the internet auctioning giant eBay ®. The five boxes sold to eBay save it a hundred thousand dollars in energy costs every nine months by just substituting only fifteen percent of the total electricity requirements. Imagine the amount of savings that could be made if the entire company’s electricity were derived from the Bloom Box technology.
The current production of the Bloom Box is targeted to attain the mega company market by producing boxes capable of producing one whole megawatt of electricity. The cost for such a box ranges between seven to eight hundred thousand dollars but Bloom Energy is hopeful of being able to produce smaller boxes for domestic use within the next ten years. They intend to bring the price down significantly to a mere three thousand dollars which would make it feasible for household use.
The company will hold a press conference on Wednesday to disclose all further details of the economic and technical nature to the public. So far the list of clients for the Bloom Box include Google and eBay and the company has received funding of four hundred million dollars to produce this technology which has been under development for over eight years.
The major advantage of the Bloom Box being set up within the vicinity of the relevant user is that it will reduce electricity loss through resistance and save millions of dollars in the long run by taking out the entire transmission line network out of the equation.
