It is quite amazing to imagine a place which is completely flat and white. The soil contains no vegetation or any other species. What if hundreds of alien vehicles are racing on this smooth and white alien place? This is no talking of UFO which have thrown you on an alien land neither it is a different planet where astronauts of a Sci-Fi movie jump down. We are talking about the Bonneville Salt Flats located in Utah.
The Bonneville Salt Flats surround an area of more than 30,000 acres. The area is administered by the bureau of Land Management. Wendover is the nearest city. There are diverse “customers” of the area. The tourists, moviemakers, car racers have great affection for the place. The land has great ability for car racing due to its plain surface. Such potential for car racing was first identified in 1896 by W.D. Rishel who was participating in a bicycle race from New York to San Francisco. He encouraged Teddy Tezlaff that he can make a speed record on a car and he was successful in doing so. He drove the car with a speed of 141 mph.
The Bonneville Salt Flats became international focal point when Sir Malcolm Campbell came here to register a speed record. By the mid of twentieth century, the Bonneville Salt Flats became the hub of car racers who wanted to have world speed records. Anyway, the place is quite attractive for car racers.
