Florida Gators went on to win the game on Saturday by 41-17. It was also the game that provided Tebow the opportunity to break Herschel Walker’s record. The game has already gained some repute as team’s best victory ever. For the record; things always heat up when Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs are face to face with each other. The game on Saturday was no exception. Atmosphere was just electric. I was so absorbed in the play that I didn’t notice the “Brandon Spikes Eye Gouge” event. As I watched the replays, it was obvious that Brandon Spikes has played foul.
Florida Gators strategy to be on offensive side as the game starts with defense supporting the team all the time really worked well. As Brandon Spike’s helmet was ripped twice an event like Eye Gouge one became more obvious.
As I watched the event in slow motion, the teams’ pileup, Brandon Spikes seemed just out of control. The body language is like that of a bull that has been shown a red cloth. Florida linebacker charged on Georgia’s Washaun Ealey and poked his hand inside Ealey’s helmet, as if to gouge running back’s eyes from their socket as he tried to put Spikes’ hand away.
Florida team coach Urban Meyer’s tried to reassure the game fans that he would do his best to check what exactly happened, and that Brandon Spikes is a “very emotional player”.
Brandon Spikes is considered one of the best linebackers around. He has not been punished for the event as yet, if proved he can face suspension.
Brandon Spikes has majored in social and behavioral sciences. However seeing the event he doesn’t seems either social or behaving.
