Released in the year 1980 Caddyshack actually is a comedy that was written by Brian Doyle-Murray an American comedian, actor and screenwriter. The movie was in reality directed on by Harold Ramis who is also an American actor, director and writer. The director Ramis has acted in the famous movie Ghostbusters and has directed three very popular films of Groundhog Day, Caddyshack and Analyze.
The cast of Caddyshack includes R. Dangerfield, T. Knight, M. O’ Keefe, Bill Murray and Chevy Chase. Caddyshack was Ramis’s 1st feature film as well as was received extremely well in America and the world over. In the money it made in the opening year it ranked number sixteenth on the highest grossing films getting as much as forty million dollars just in America.
Caddyshack was the first of a succession of such comedies and had a sequel come out eight years later which went by the name of Caddyshack II but the sequel did not make as much and wasn’t appreciated to the same extent by the masses.
In the year 2000 Caddyshack came in the list of the hundred funniest American films though it was placed in the lower half of the list being number seventy-one out of a hundred it was a great achievement for the director and screenwriter since it was considered that out of all the films ever made in America till the year 2000.
The plot revolves around a boy Danny who wants to go to college but doesn’t have the money so he becomes a caddy at a high class golf club called Bushwood Country Club. The comedy is a classic and will always bring a smile to those who appreciate a genuine sense of humor.
