Calvert County Public Schools have been closed and all other activities on 12th November 2009 in the evening have been cancelled due to stormy climate. Further announcements will be made keeping in view the weather conditions at night and tomorrow morning. In case no further announcements are made, the schools and other activities would open on schedule.
The National Weather Service has declared the warning for flood in the area of Calvert and St. Mary’s Counties. The wind speed is at its peak and being observed closely by the National Weather Service in all three counties. Charles County has already been monitored for flood due to heavy rain.
The Flood warning has been issued by the National Weather Service, remaining in effect till midnight Thursday. The area is supposed to be out of danger in the morning. The heavy rains with speedy winds have been noticed on radar near Delmarva Peninsula and Chesapeake Bay.
The Flood warning is to inform all the related organizations to prepare the precautionary measures. The heavy rainfall has been forecasted in Calvert County around 6:00 pm which can result in the flooding.
The areas which are expected to be affected by the rainfall and flood are Sheridan Point, Calvert Cliffs, Plum Point, Prince Frederick, Dunkirk, Saint Leonard Creek and few others.
The National Weather Service radar monitors were showing some serious forecast for the rain and wind which forced them to take precautionary measures by issuing flood warning to avoid damages.
