Rachel Alexandra this year’s Kentucky Derby’s 135th winner with “Calvin Borel” as a jockey a perfect match. The jockey Calvin put his neck on line he said: “I think they did the right thing, but I do think she would have won the Derby.”
Rachel Alexandra and jockey “Calvin Borel” the 1-5 favorite of “Grande I Kentucky Oaks” has won on Friday 1st May, 2009. A devastating win over her six rivals in front of 104,867 people watching something to happen and it did. After an amazing win Owner/Breeder Dolphus Morrison said “The Triple Crown races are to showcase the future stallions of our industry and fillies should run with fillies and stallions with stallions.”
Trainer Hal Wiggins said “I’m just so glad she finally came along this is the type of horse you’re always looking for” after Rachel Alexandra with her jockey “Calvin Borel” win the race with a record margin. It was later discovered that she has a swelling in her left front foot.
Rachel Alexandra along with jockey Calvin Borel has won seven starts up till now and out of them 5 in a row there are 10 in total.
On the final bend of the race no one was near her with no one on the left side and the clear open passage way alongside the rail was the sign of a Victorious win.
It was told that Rachel Alexandra along with jockey Calvin Borel gained the speed of mile and a quarter in 2:023/5 the track was all muddy due to overnight and morning rain.
