Camp Denali started by three female pilots Celia Hunter, Ginny Wood and Morton Wood homesteading 67 acres of a ridge near the Northern outskirts of Mt. McKinley National Park. Trio operated Camp Denali for 25 years.
Camp now consists of 17 cabins. The cabins are built in such away that each captures the the view of Mt. McKinley. The cables are fully functional to cater the daily needs of visitors like washing, stove, propane lighting and bed and linen. Cabins are just a tad bit away from the historic boundary built by three female pilots using spruce logs.
Camp Denali along with the North Face lodge offers some of the best learning opportunities for the lovers of nature. It offers guided tours, hitch hiking across the mountainous terrain, unmatchable geography of the area .Guided tours acquaint the traveler with the history of the Camp, botany of the area, and wildlife.
Of course the area can be explored unguided. There is a wealth online and published material to chalk out the program and to make the visit worthwhile.
The main philosophy is to get the travelers live as close to the nature as possible. To achieve the goal even the repairs have not been done at some cabins to keep the original look intact. The concept of hospitality at Camp Denali is not about lavishness, its about living close to the nature.
