Carla Hughes, a school teacher who was allegedly accused of killing a pregnant woman, has been found guilty by a Madison County jury on Tuesday. She would either receive death punishment or life-imprisonment ruling out the possibility of parole. She slaughtered a pregnant woman, Avis Banks, who was the fiancé of the man with whom she had sexual relationship. She wanted to remain with the victim’s fiancé and get rid of her. Keyon Pittman and Carla Hughes were colleagues at the Jackson school.
Banks got shots all over her body. Hughes cut her neck and back with knife at Pittman and Bank’s shared apartment. There was blend of different sentiments outside the courtroom on the verdict. Both parties were having tears. The family of Banks got relief and the family of Hughes expressed emotions of grief and distress. The news spread all over the country rapidly. The father of Banks pointed towards the sky as if he was satisfied with God’s justice and thanked Him. “It means that she can rest. That it’s all over with Justice”.
Bank’s sister was also heaved a sigh of relief and told that although she was going through the trauma but this episode of grief becomes less torturous when she recalls how much good time she spent with her sister. Despite Pittman was not found guilty but Bank’s family still has doubts about him. Banks mother pointed towards the sky and told that He shall take care of him.
