U.S Open starts closing its gates as champions were just decided for Mixed Doubles. Kentucky’s Carly Gullickson and Portland’s Tavis Parrott surprisingly defeated Leander Paes and Cara Black from nowhere.
Mixed doubles is always unlike the unwanted child of a wealthy parent. The parents just want them out with a quick hug and nothing more then that. Same is the case with the Mixed Doubles in Tennis.
As it is not one of the popular variant of the game, organizers were relaxed and they have not much work to do like the off days, as the Mixed Doubles match was played in almost empty Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Well, frankly speaking I opened my book on Paes and Black very confidently; I thought it would be a piece of cake for both of them. This is not only assumed by me but lot many others thought the same way. Infect the marvelous track record of both of them forced to think so. I thought it was just like Muhammad Ali in his prime time facing quill weight challenger that is how I took it.
This speculation was due to the comparison between Paes, Black and Gullickson, Parrott. The first couple Paes and Black has a list of double tiles under their belt. Paes got 40 and Black got 61 of them. Both of them also got quite an experience of the show as well.
On the other side Gullickson and Parrott even weren’t suppose to playing together, they were together in a result of a wild car offered to Spears by USTA.
Gullickson was teamed with Rajeev Ram and Parrott with Spears and Spears offered Parrott to hookup with Gullikson and Parrott taxed her 2 days before.
So sweet, you knew 48 hours before that who is going to be your teammate then how can you think to win the tournament.
But the news is playing first timer together, they won the tournament by beating Paes and Black 6-2, 6-4
It isn’t sound funny
