The life of Carmine Persico has been a long and perilous one and now he is sitting in a prison in north Carolina. He has been there since he was convicted of extortion in the years following 1986 and alongside him his brother Alphonse and a close associate in crime Jerry are also serving a long term. Though Carmine Persico was initially given a thirty-nine year sentence it was later increased to a hundred and fifty years which means that he will probably never walk the streets as a free man, at least in this lifetime.
Carmine Persico has had a history of being a thug as he was involved in his first murder when he was only seventeen years old. Though he was kind of skinny and short, and not too good looking either, he was considered one mean gangster in his days and he was recruited into the Profaci family soon after he reached his twenties. In the family that he joined there were other recruits who went by the name of the Gallo brothers and over time the differences between Carmine Persico and the Gallo brothers became too much to bear and there was a falling out. Then later on the Profaci members tried to assassinate one of the Gallo brothers by strangling him but right at the crucial moment a policeman walked in and Larry Gallo, the brother who was being targeted managed to escape.
Since then there have been multiple incidents when Carmine Persico has been targeted by his enemies and he has been shot a number of times as well, including one time in which he was shot in the face.
