Although inspired by 1995 film Caper, “Casper Meets Wendy” has an altogether a different plot. The film was directly released to video in 1998.
Who is the worst enemy of witches? The ghosts, and if a witch succeeds in taming the ghosts, she would be the greatest witch on earth as the film reveals. Would be greatest witch is Wendy – played by Hilary Duff. As she is going to wear the crown of being the greatest, she surely attracts evil forces to her. The evil forces appear in the shape of Desmond, who cannot, at any cost let Wendy win. He starts weaving a plot to kill Wendy. In her bid to escape her death by Desmond Wendy is on run and as the fortune would have it comes across a good natured but a bit shy ghost Casper. Now Wendy has three witch aunts and Casper has three ghost uncles. Witches hate ghosts and vice versa. Both groups have difficulty in getting along well. Casper accidently tells his uncles about Wendy going to be the greatest witch. Casper’s uncles launch an attack on Wendy and her witch aunts. Wendy otherwise careful about using her forces is compelled to cast a magic spell. The magic spell does not go unnoticed and Desmond gets a smell of the action. This is too much for him. He creates a great hole to throw Wendy and her aunts in it. As Casper rescues them, Desmond himself falls in it. Witches and ghosts part, saying goodbye to each other and as Wendy has achieved an unachievable feat of becoming friends with ghosts she is made the greatest witch on earth.
Though Casper and Wendy bid farewell to each other, they promise to meet again.
