Summer is about to end with so much fun behind for us. The months of September and October are here with so many festivals and carnivals for people of every age and interests. One of these festivals is Centerfest Festival 2009 at Durham. Centerfest is an annual art festival which has been arranged for past 35 years, and keeping the tradition continued the festival has brought rich art displays. Centerfest 2009 is scheduled to remain open for the visitors on Sunday, 20th September till 6 pm. Centerfest 2009 started today at Downtown Durham Central Park District.
Centerfest is arranged by Durham Arts Council every year. The festival brings featured art, spectacular pieces of crafts, music of every genre, dance, fun-filled activities for kids and children, and a variety of other entertainment. The festival also hosts food stalls where foods of international flavor and different cuisines are presented to the visitors.
Centerfest is North Carolina’s one of the longest running outdoor festivals. The Durham Centerfest 2009 is displaying 117 art pieces and more than 200 performing artists will entertaining the visitors at three different stages. There are 26 diverse performances scheduled for the two-day festival with performances by folk, jazz, Americana, country, pop, blues, and rock bands. Face painting and Airbrush tattoo stalls are also there for kids. The art festival is held at the streets of ancient Durham Central Park District and visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes.
The entry to the festival is free with suggested fee of $4. The earnings from the entry fee will go the annual arts fund of Durham Arts Council.
