The retired schoolteacher risks his life every day to be friends with grizzly and black bears. Long unhappy with Charlie close affiliation with wild grizzly and Alaska bears, state establishment are trying to put Bear Haven out of business. Charlie has previously been named for beneficial bears, but the blame charge against him next could go much farther.
Alaska assistant attorney general Andrew Peterson said “An investigation is ongoing”.
Andrew decline to disclose details, but the inquiry emerge to center around English filmmaker “Richard Perry”, this summer he was nibbled in the leg by a bear during filming at Bear Haven. Richard is at work on a multiple series about Charlie and his bears for “Animal Planet”.
Richard Perry said he didn’t think the nibble was all that important, but it left visible teeth marks in his lower leg and needed first aid. Andrew said state investigators have interviewed Richard Perry.
Other attorneys say state prosecutors could use the attack to charge Charlie with irresponsible endangerment, a class “A” crime with a probable verdict of up to a year in jail, another $10,000 fine or maybe both. State law says someone is guilty of this crime if he “irresponsibly engages in behavior which creates an extensive risk of serious physical injury to another person”.
Aussie reporter Liam Bartlett also importuned an acknowledgment from Charlie about the dangers distinctive to his farmhouse.
“I’ve been slapped. I’ve been knocked unconscious. I’ve been T-boned by large bears and knocked to the ground and had a hard time getting up”, the 70-year-old Charlie told the reporter. “I’ve been thrown to the ground by bears, but it was in no way that any of those was an all-out attack. I guarantee I wouldn’t be sitting here today if a bear had given me an all-out attack. At the same time, it’s probably like anything else if you’ve got thousands of hours with bears, the odds are the odds are mounting”.
