Chincoteague occupies a good-looking barrier island just South of the Maryland boundary which is the most attractive destination on the Eastern Shore. Even though Chincoteague is little but more than a village, its 2 main streets hold a pale variety of restaurants and motels and it makes a suitably calm base for exploring “Assateague Island National Seashore”.
