Released in June 1970, Chisum was directed by Andrew V. McLaglen was a box office hit with $12 million. Chisum Movie was written and produced by Andrew J. Fenady. Warner Brothers “Western motion pictures” movie Chisum was starred by John Wayne. The other big names of the movie are Richard Jaeckel, Forrest Tucker, Ben Johnson and Geoffrey Deuel. Although the information provided in the movie was historically incorrect, Chisum movie was based on Lincoln County War of 1878, which was fought in New México area in which Billy the Kid was also involved.
In the movie Geoffrey Deuel has performed the role of Billy the Kid. Billy was a killer with notorious reputation; however, Henry Tunstall, a John Chisum ranch neighbor gave Billy a chance to change into a good man and he falls in love with Sallie the niece of John Chisum.
Senior producer Michael Wayne took on this assignment since he felt that the story is well written and chisum script is according to his father’s political observation. The shooting of the movie was held in Durango, México in 1969. Richard Nixon the President for America also saw the movie in White House after the release of the movie in 1970. President Nixon said that Chisum movie is one of his favorite movies.
