Christin Engelberth has won the Doodle for Google competation on Wednesday 20th May, 2009. Christin Engelberth a 12-years-old sixth grade student of Bernard Harris Middle School San Antonio, Taxes and a promising young artist has topped the second annual “Doodle 4 Google” competition. Christin’s logo for Google Doodle “A New Beginning” will be displayed on the homepage of Google search engine on Tuesday, 21th May, 2009 for the whole day. The doodle “A New Beginning” by Christin Engelberth is based on her hopes of taking the earth out of current crisis and flourishes it once again.
The doodle topped a pool out of 28,000 entries then on 8th May a Judges team of 10 member team of judges trimmed that pool down to forth local finalists, then community was requested to select their preferred doodle from 11th to 18th of May, 6 million online votes were casted and the doodle from Christin Engelberth “A New Beginning” was among one of the final four. Marissa Mayer and Dennis Hwang from Google then selected the doodle “A New Beginning” by Christin Engelberth as the coolest one.
By winning the competition Christin Engelberth earned not only a 24-hour exhibit on Google.com, but she will get a scholarship of $15,000 as well as a laptop and a grant of $25,000 for her school.
