A day which is celebrated every year around America known as Cinco de Mayo in Spanish has a long history and dates back to the eighteen hundreds. The Cinco de Mayo history tells us that there in the early eighteen sixties (1861) the French tried to take over Mexico and eventually occupy it. The french army which was much larger in size did manage to defeat the Mexicans in the first invasion but then later in 1862 in the city if Puebla there was another battle where the French took their army of 8,000 to fight against the smaller Mexican army which only had half the soldiers not to mention them not even being as well equipped as the French.
In the Battle of Puebla the French army was defeated by the four thousand Mexican soldiers in the Cinco de Mayo history and since then the day has been celebrated widely across America though a research paper on the Cinco de Mayo history tells us that the day is not celebrated as widely in Mexico.
The French decision to invade Mexico came when Benito Juarez ceased the payments of interest to countries that it was in debt to so then the French decided to take over Mexico and for a time they had succeeded in the task and had placed their own emperor on the throne, his name was Maximilian 1 and he came to power in Mexico in the year of 1864. However, six years after the battle Maximilian was dethroned and executed.
