The state of Connecticut went through a serious storm on the night of Saturday as storm-force gales swept through the regions of Norwalk, Greenwich and Stamford leaving a lot of people without power and two women dead in its wake. The storm that came in the late hours of Saturday left the areas devastated and without electrical power as Connecticut light and power confirmed that sixty-four thousand of its customers had lost connection.
The power outages resulted after trees started falling over on electricity transmission lines severing connections to the main grid. About seventy percent of those who lost Connecticut light and power were from the three areas mentioned above and the company says that it is matter that will take a number of days to resolve.
A total of one-hundred-and-sixty power-line teams have been deployed to assess and repair the consequences with the aid of fifty-three tree crews which will be in charge of clearing the affected areas of fallen trees. That is not all that the Connecticut light and power told reporters as they added that more teams from as far as Ohio and Quebec will come to help restore the situation back to normal.
Out of the two women who died, one was driving in her car at around seven o’ clock in the evening when a tree fell onto the vehicle resulting in the woman’s death and injuring the three passengers that she was carrying with her. Jennifer Thibault of New Jersey was only thirty-nine years old and was pronounced dead soon after medical aid reached the area of the accident. The other woman who died was an elderly sixty-one year old who was on her way to a dinner with her husband at half past six when the storm knocked a tree over which resulted in her death.
