Cory Spinks

Cory Spinks real name is “Cory Calvin”. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on 20th February, 1978. He started boxing when he was only 7 years old. Cory was the “National Golden Gloves” in 1997 and the “National PAL champion” in the same year. Cory has also won the “National PAL Jr. championships” in 1993.

Cory Spinks the new “IBF junior middleweight champion” has won the title on Friday by defeating “Deandre Latimore”.

Cory’s fight for the championship was a split decision between two boxers as two judges divide their score cards 115-112, on the other hand the third one gave a 114-113 boundary to the previous undisputed welterweight champion. Cory did receive a cut above his left eye but won the championship.

Talking to the media Cory said, “I knew I had to perform in that last round and I did, I went out like a dog and got it”. Cory is now five-time world champion. Up till now Cory has won 37 fights and just lost 5.

Cory belong to a family which is famous for boxing by winning tomorrow’s fight he has added one more belt to his proud history. His father’s name is “Leon Spinks” and on 15 February, 1978 he has upset Muhammad Ali in the fight exactly 5 days after the birth of his son Cory Spinks.

Deandre Latimore, is the native of “St. Louis” and still believe that it is his home. He told the press that “Cory was my idol, but this is all business”.
