Daddy’s little girls are China, Lauryn, and Sierra; also their real names. Their father Monty, played by Idris Elba loves her daughters very much. The daughters are being taken care of by their maternal grandmother. Grandmother has lung cancer and dies. Monty absolutely does not want to leave daughters with their mother Jennifer. Jennifer and Monty have parted their ways. Ensues is bitter custody battle for daughters. Monty has little cash left to pursue the case, so he accepts to be a driver for a lawyer, Julia. Julia is seen as a strict disciplinarian in the start and refuses to help Monty, but as the case hearings start she is seen helping Monty. Monty originally works as a small time mechanic in a garage. His boss at garage gets hurt and offers Monty to buy the workshop.
As the relationship between Mr. Driver and his boss Julia progresses they fall in love. Julia starts fighting the case in the court. As Jennifer’s lawyer expounds that Monty has also raped a woman in the past, Julia gets extremely angry as she was not told about the incident. The plot progresses and we see Monty’s car hitting his ex wife’s car, which her boy friend is driving. The news about the incident is on T.V, where it is told that he is falsely accused in a rape case. Julia hears the news and is ashamed for blaming Monty. Meanwhile three daughters charge their mother’s boyfriend as physically abusing them. Film ends with Monty winning the case and also buying the workshop.
