
Danielle Lawrie the multi-tasking national player of the year guaranteed it with a grand slam home run to give Washington a 9-3 leading decisive game over Georgia in front of 4,954 audiences at the ASA Hall of Fame Stadium last night, Sunday 31st May, 2009. The finals for the Women College World Series will start today on Monday 1st June, 2009 with match of the national player of the year Danielle Lawrie and the number one team of the nation Washington. Washington will be playing the Women College World Series as Danielle Lawrie will be leading the in the championship , this is the third time for Washington in the school history that the team is playing finals whereas first time since 1999. On the other hand Florida will be making its second appearance of the World Series and it will be for the first time for Florida that they are in the finals.
Earlier in the season when Washington met Florida in February Danielle Lawrie become the hero of the game by throwing a two-hit shutout in a nine innings game, Washington won the game from Florida by 1-0.
