David Brubeck, the music maestro gets the honor. The Kennedy Center Honors paid its tribute to the jazz pianist on 6 December. President Barck Hussein Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama witnessed the ceremony. CBS telecasted the ceremony on 29 December.
David Brubeck, also known as Dave Brubeck is 89. David Brubeck gets this honor for his contribution in the music world for his distinguished style music that encompasses the natural as well as classic genre of music. His range of mastership also encompasses variant to sophisticate. His style has its own trademark that bears a different rhythm and cadence.
The Washington D.C ceremony has other honorees with David Brubeck. These honorees include Grace Bumbry, the opera singer, Mel Brooks, the producer, Bruce Springsteen, the singer and Robert De Niro, the actor.
Not only the honorees but many artists were present at the ceremony and they added to the ceremony with their performances. The pack of performance and beauty include Jack Black, Melissa Etheridge, Sharon Stone, Edward Norton and Meryl Streep.
The honor is bestowed upon the towering icons for their lifetime contributions. The ceremony is hosted at Kennedy Center Opera House annually since 1978. George Stevens Jr. introduced the honors. The artists from every genre of performing arts perform at the weekend long gala with performances. Stevens is remained the producer and co writer of the gala. Walter Cronkite hosted the ceremony from 1978 to 2002. Since 2003, Caroline Kennedy is hosting the ceremony.
