David Goldman may have won the battle of the custody of his son – Sean Goldman only on Thursday, when father and son were united, Sean’s stepfather João Lins e Silva had lost the battle long ago, at least in the eyes of his own countrymen. Among all the claims that we are living in an enlightened era, David Goldfman’s battle makes only one thing clear, that is, power and influence still carry their own charm over justice. Lins e Silvas are considered among one of the influential most families in Brazil and they used all their powers to separate the son from his real father. João Lins e Silva is Sean Goldman’s stepfather. After the death of Sean’s mother Lins e Silva concentrated all his powers to retain the custody of the child. As the case progressed Lins e Silva’s own country fellows became more and more convinced that he is abusing his connections in Brazilian justice system or should I say injustice system. More and more Brazilians showed their frustration at the petty tactics adopted by the step father, among them the posters supposedly written by Sean himself that he wants to remain in Brazil.
Even when Sean’s real father David Goldman arrived in Rio de Janeiro, he was welcomed by the news that the court has with held its decision to give the custody of the boy to David Goldman unless Sean does not testify himself that he wants to leave with David. As of now as the custody battle has been won by David, psychologists are warning David of the mammoth task ahead of making 9 year old Sean feel at home in U.S.
