Denialism is about those people who ‘deny’ the obvious facts. Michael Specter comes with another great book titled ‘Denialism’. In his book, Specter talks about those people who are denying the visible facts and stick to the old believes. Talking about Denialism, he gave examples of the parents living in Vashon Island, who believe the years old belief that vaccination is not good for their minors. Michael Specter says that these parents are suffering with a common psychological attitude called Denialism. He says that piles of books and research material are available on the numerous benefits of child vaccination. He said that these parents are denying these positive aspects of vaccination process and keep themselves stuck to the ages old belief which argues the vaccination, hence putting their child’s health in jeopardy. Michael says that by depriving their kids with the basic health treat they are not only risking their own child’s healthy life but also of the other’s too. He says that these children when interact with other children around them can transfer these diseases to them. He stated the example of measles which was once eradicated from America but is now returning back.
In his book Denialism, Michael Specter explained the ways many people have misunderstood science and scientific technology. He talked about organic food in the chapter ‘The Organic Fetish’. He talked about the most commonly found definition of organic food. He also talked about how Denialism has removed some of the good medicines form the market as people believed the rumors while ignoring the facts.
